Interns

Terry Horst Landscape Architeture regularly engages student interns from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, usually working on their Bachelor or Master of Landscape Architecture degrees, to assist us with various aspects of our business. Not only are we interested in giving back and providing students with "real life" opportunities, but the students bring fresh ideas and new perspectives to our work.

Key Attributes of Terry Horst Architecture, PC

We bring to your project team unparalleled qualities of commitment, respect, hard work and the experience required to ensure a finished project that will be a lasting and proud amenity. Our contribution can be broken down into four attributes:

Commitment

Our first commitment is to work with you to develop a project that provides a positive visual and functional addition to the environment of your project. Our ability to achieve this end is facilitated by our commitment to the design process and its impact on people and their relationships with their environment. As part of this process, we are skilled at working with our clients to involve them and their ideas and goals in the design development phase of a project. This input, on your part, will combine with our knowledge of people's relationship to their environment, the intrinsic values of various materials and construction processes. This combination will result in the development of design concepts that reflect your goals and aspirations.

Respect

The second attribute that we will bring to your team is one of respect. A respect for you as a client and as a knowledgeable partner on the project team with a defined program that is to be implemented in the final constructed project. As skilled professionals, we bring to the team a respect for construction materials, processes, and their limitations and attributes. Terry Horst Landscape Architecture has a policy of continuous education and awareness of materials and their technical execution in construction process. This knowledge results in cost-effective construction detailing and long-term, low maintenance cost to the owner.

Dedication to Hard Work

At Terry Horst Landscape Architecture we bring a dedication to hard work to the project team. Once retained by a client we bring to their project our attention and resources as professionals. No problem that may occur is too small or too large; no question goes unanswered or delayed due to other conflicts. At Terry Horst Landscape Architecture, we are where we need to be before we need to be there. Our hard work ethic and attentiveness to our client's needs is best demonstrated by years of continuous working relationships with clients such as the City of Syracuse, the City of Rome, Rome Housing Authority, Onondaga Community College, and numerous architects.

Experience

Terry Horst Landscape Architecture brings to a project extensive experience in the development of open spaces for people through the creative use of materials and sound construction detailing. Our completed projects are representative of our ability to create pleasing areas for people to use, whether it be for walking, sitting, talking, watching others, or just being. Although they are all for different clients with different needs, they are all open spaces for human use. The materials used to create these spaces are essentially all the same: Brick, Concrete, Pebbled Concrete, Stone, and Plant materials arranged in different spaces as walkways, seating areas, privacy areas, entries, focal points, views, and visitors. We have the design capability to arrange these materials taking advantage of their intrinsic characteristics of color, texture, and form to enhance the use of open spaces.
